Normality

My thesis is an investigation into the concept of normality. What is normal? Who decides what is normal? Is having a concept of normal helpful or harmful? What societal expectations does normality set up?

I'm also looking at different ways people interact with normality, from designers that create objects that help people with disabilities to counterculture and the ways people subvert or work around normality. There are also people with mental health disorders or PTSD that look for normality in order to function, which is a fascinating interaction in and of itself.

How people interact with the concept of normality is a very complex issue, with a wide scope of understanding. I plan to capture my thoughts using design and writing.
